Home Again

Hi everybody,

Well, we made it home on Sunday, after a very tiring 24 hours of travelling.

Sorry for not updating the blog since last Monday, but we had no access to the Internet. We did try and get online on Friday, but unfortunately we had an interruption in our plans and didn't manage to get there.

We have had a great week in Zambia, and made loads of new contacts. It has been a very productive week.

We have looked at four projects for us to complete in 2010 in Siavonga. Each project has pluses and minuses around them, and Caroline, Sarah and myself decided not to make a decision whilst we were in Zambia. As a result, we are currently arranging a leaders meeting to discuss these.

The closing date for acceptances has now passed, and I can confirm that we have a team of 23 team members, plus the 6 leaders. I am now stacked out in paperwork!

That's all for now,

Jools

Checking out the activities!

Hi everybody,

We have been very busy today, checking out all of the activities, and having lots of meetings with people.

After two visits to the bank, we think we have managed to now sort out the Zambian Bank account - time will tell.

We have also visited the management for the White Water Rafting, Elephants, Lion Encounter, River Cruise, Helicopter flights, quad biking and horse riding! Wow, that was busy.

We have also talked at length to the backpackers hostel - Fawlty Towers. Unfortunately, they are stopping the Dorms, so we are looking at alternatives.

After the hard day or work, meetings and running around, we did finish the day with our feet in the swimming pool, and a Piza at Funky Monkeys.

Anyway, time for bed, as it is 9pm, and we have a coach to catch in the morning. Then Wednesday and Thursday are all about finding the project.

Hello Again

Hey Jools, Sarah and Caroline. Have you got any idea of what the project will be?
Can't wait to know.
Hello everyone else who isn't in Zambia. How are yee all?
I am soo tired, just got back form my Bronze Duke of Edinborough practice expedition. My feet ache. Oh well, it was good fun. SOOOOO COLD AT NIGHT THOUGH :(
Anyway. See you later

King Ben :)

We are in Livingstone!

Hi Everybody,

We have made it to Livingstone, alive and well. This was after a 28 hour flight journey, on a tour of Amsterdam, Nairobi, Malawi and finally Lusaka. We had a 4 hour delay in Nairobi, as the plane wouldn't start! This made us late into Lusaka, but we managed to rush around and get everybthing sorted that we needed to.

We met up with Dymus in the evening (one of our scout contacts), and briefly met Natty, who is a friend of Sarah's, before having an early night.

Today (Sunday), saw us pay an extra 2.50 to travel on the "Luxury" coach, which was well worth it for the 6 hours ride.

After arriving in a hot and sunny Livingstone, we went straight to the number one attraction - the Victoria Falls. All we can say is Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

We did try and stay dry with our mac's, but struggled hard when faced with walking through 1000 showers pounding down on you. However, we did see several rainbows, and got various pictures for you all (but can not upload any at the moment).

After drying off, we are now getting ready to go and have dinner, and managed to jump on the Internet (after fixing it because it hasn't been working all weekend!).

We will try and keep posting messages on here, subject to access! It would be great to see some replies (or comments),

At Heathrow

Hi everybody. Well, Caroline, Sarah and myself have all made it to Heathrow, the first of 5 airports in our 24 hour journey to Zambia. They have manage to put up on an earlier flight. Jools

Departing for Pre-Visit

Hi everybody,

Well, the 3rd April has arrived, and today Caroline, Sarah and myself are off to Zambia for a week.

I am really looking forward to this week for many reasons.
Firstly, its a week off work!
Secondly, it will be a great chance to meet up with the contacts we made in Zambia last year, and to see last years project.
Thirdly, I am really looking forward to the oppertunity to get to know Sarah and Caroline better.
And lastly, we will be researching the project for Zambia 2010. This will give us a great oppertunity to see some really deserving causes, and then the hard task of making a decision of which one to help.

Keep checking the blog, as we will try and put several messages up on it whilst we are away!
